Spaces & places,
designed end‑to‑end.

A new framework for transformational fan, audience, visitor and customer experiences — engineered for ambition, built for delivery, measured by return.

IV001 Approach

A new approach to experience design.

Interval is a global strategic advisory and design lab developing transformational fan, audience, visitor and customer experiences through adaptable spaces and places — via a Total Experience Design™ approach.

Spaces and places need to be more multi-modal than ever before to deliver transformational experiences for everyone, and greater returns on investment. The creative thinking, technology, content and ambition is available — but the process and full-spectrum framework is not.

We exist to close that gap. Quietly, rigorously, end-to-end.

The year experience becomes infrastructure

Today, ambition is rarely the limiting factor. Capital is available. Technology is mature. Audiences expect more — and are willing to reward those who deliver.

What's missing is a connective tissue: a single framework that holds spatial, technological, brand, content and human dimensions together across the full lifecycle of a place. Without it, ambition fragments. Operational teams cannot deliver. The return on investment falls short of what the original vision promised.

Interval was founded to provide that connective tissue.

IV002 — The Framework

Total Experience Design™ holds the whole picture together.

Human Foundation Vision Master Planning Realisation Spatial Technology Brand & Digital Content TIME

Five pillars. Four phases. One continuous process.

Total Experience Design™ is a complete operating system for places. It binds the five disciplines that shape how a space feels — Spatial, Technology, Brand & Digital, Content, and Time — to the four phases that govern how it gets made: Vision, Master Planning, Realisation, and the Human Foundation it all returns to.

Time sits at the centre because experiences unfold. A place is not a product shipped on a date; it is a system that must perform from opening day through every season that follows.

IV003 — The Five Pillars

What we hold in balance.

P / 01
Spatial
Architecture, environment and flow — the physical conditions for experience.
P / 02
Technology
Systems and infrastructure that quietly enable the space to perform.
P / 03
Brand & Digital
Identity, narrative and digital product — the connective layer across every touchpoint.
P / 04
Content
Programming, story and curation — what the place actually says to the people inside it.
P / 05
Time
The dimension everyone forgets — how an experience evolves across hours, seasons, years.

IV004 — The Process

Four phases, anchored to the human.

PH / 01
Human Foundation
Every project begins and ends with the people it is for. We define the audiences, the operational teams, and the stakeholders whose lives the place will touch — and we build the brief from their reality, not from precedent.
PH / 02
Vision
A sharpened, defendable point of view on what the space must become — and why it matters now. This is where ambition gets articulated in a form that survives contact with reality.
PH / 03
Master Planning
Translating vision into a buildable, fundable, operable plan across all five pillars simultaneously — so spatial, technology, brand, content and time decisions reinforce rather than contradict one another.
PH / 04
Realisation
Holding the line from groundbreaking through opening and into ongoing operation. We stay close enough to protect intent, and step back early enough that the client's team can run it.

A practice built for the gap between ambition and operation.

We are not an architecture firm. We are not a brand consultancy. We are not a technology integrator. We work alongside all of them — and we are accountable for the experience that emerges from their combined work.

Senior, small teams. Embedded for the full arc, or brought in to unstick a single phase. Always under one framework, so nothing falls between the seams.

We work with a small number of clients each year. If you have a place to make, remake, or rethink — and the ambition to do it properly — we'd like to hear from you.
